Neck Pain: How to Avoid the Discomfort and Find Relief

neck-pain-how-to-avoid-the-discomfort-and-find-reliefNearly everyone has had neck pain at one time or another. It is a condition affecting people around the world. You may begin to notice your neck pain is occurring more often. This could be due to some lifestyle changes and bad habits you can get control over. The following are some suggest to reduce the incidence of neck pain:

  • Lighten the load. If you carry a purse or a bag, be sure to keep the contents as light as possible. Instead of carrying it over one shoulder, putting stress on that area and one side only, try carrying a backpack to distribute the weight more evenly.
  • Include breaks in your schedule. If you sit for long time periods at work, you may want to schedule a time to get up every 30 or 40 minutes to stretch and walk around a bit.
  • Keep it at eye level. By keeping your computer screen at eye level, as well as mobile devices such as phones and tablets, you can reduce neck strain. When you tilt your neck downward for many hours at a time, you increase the amount of stress your neck is under.

Getting to the Underlying Cause

Some people find their neck pain will go away pretty quickly. In other situations, however, neck pain may linger. Rather than trying medication after medication or various therapies, upper cervical chiropractic care may be just what you are looking for. A misaligned bone in the top part of the neck might be the cause of your neck pain.

Upper cervical chiropractic care is unique in that we do not have to pop or crack the neck to get positive results. We use a method that is gentle and specifically tailored to each patient depending on their needs. Our target is to realign the bone that is out of place by encouraging it to move back into place on its own. This often relieves neck pain in just a few adjustments.
